Carlson 2022 Software Logo

Important Notes:

  • AutoCAD 2025 must be installed first and opened once before installing.
  • The course instructor will provide the Carlson 2025 software serial number.
  • Students are welcome to install Carlson on either AutoCAD 2025 (not that this version will not work on top of AutoCAD 2025) or on top of IntelliCAD.
  • MME Computer Lab: The Carlson software is installed and activated on the computer systems within the MME computer lab (Holden Hall 221) .

Installation Instructions:

  1. Users are allowed to install the Carlson software onto one computer system.
  2. Download the Carlson2025_64bit.exe installation file from Carlson's download website at https://web.carlsonsw.com/files/updates/updates05.php?ss_email=&product=Carlson. The following modules are included: Survey, Civil, Hydrology, GIS, Geology, Underground Mining, Surface Mining, Natural Regrade, Field, CADnet, GeoTech, Trench, Construction, and Point Clouds.
  3. Right-click on the installer file, select Run as administrator, and click Yes.
  4. For the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Carlson 2025 window, select Next >.
  5. For the License Agreement window, select Yes.
  6. For the Select 64bit CAD version window, click the radio button for AutoCAD/AutoCAD Map 2025.
  7. For the Get Serial Number window, enter the serial number by the instructor and click Next >.
  8. For the Choose Destination Location window, select Next >.
  9. For the Select Work Directory window, select Next >.
  10. For the Select Settings Directory window, select Next >.
  11. For the Select Language window, select Next >.
  12. For the Start Copying Files window, select Next >.
  13. For the Get Profile Name window, leave blank and select Next >.
  14. An Installing window should appear, then OK to the Carlson Setup window.
  15. Another Installing window should appear, then Next > to the Support and Updates information window.
  16. Click the Finish button within the InstallShield Wizard Complete window.
  17. Open the Carlson software, then for the Carlson Settings Migrator window, select the Transfer Previous Carlson Settings option.
  18. For the Select Program to Export From the window, select Current.
  19. For the Save Settings window, click OK.
  20. After the Collecting Migration Data window is complete, select Exit for the Carlson Software Update Wizard window, then close the Carlson Data Migration Report text file.
  21. Open Carlson 2025 software through the Windows start menu or the Carlson Mining 2025 with AutoCAD 2025 - English icon on the desktop.
  22. For the Registration Wizard window, under the Reg. Method tab, select the radio button next to the Register to obtain a change key option, and select Next >.
  23. Under the Install Info tab, select the radio button next to the Initial install or maintenance upgrade of Carlson Software option, and select Next >.
  24. Under the User Info tab, enter the following information:
    1. User Name: Enter your first and last name.
    2. Company: Virginia Tech
    3. Phone Number: 540-231-0000
    4. E-Mail Address: Enter x@x.com for the email.
    5. Select Next >
  25. A Registration Message window should appear indicating the registration was successful, and a Carlson Software Registration web page will open, there is no reason to maintain a copy of the registration information.
  26. A Startup Wizard window will appear upon startup of the Carlson software, there is an option to Skip Startup Wizard Next Time checkbox option near the bottom left corner.
